A big portion of my business is referrals. I feel I have a unique gift for explaining the intricacies of the many different mortgage programs and enjoy answering questions. “I want everyone to walk away with something they didn’t know before,” A good loan officer has to be able to dig a little deeper for solutions. For instance, if you’ve got a credit score of 600 and you need a 620, I’ve got the time to help you. My experience includes past clients children – and now some of their grandchildren. I had one client who relocated to Colorado and called to ask if I could handle her mortgage there. (Alas, no). “It’s always been about the relationships,”
This type of customized customer service is second nature and goes back to a motto I live by. “I heard Zig Ziglar speak in 1991 and he said you can have everything you want in life it you will just help other people get what they want – I was blown away by that,” So far, I’ve successfully practiced that golden rule philosophy with more than 4,500 families, representing over a billion dollars in financing.
I have served as president of the Virginia Mortgage Lenders Association as well as the Tidewater Mortgage Bankers Association. My column, Mortgage Matters, is a favorite with Virginian-Pilot readers.
I believe in goal setting. It’s a strategy that’s propelled me to the top of my field and made me the go-to guy when the media needs a mortgage expert. Just before the New Year, I sat down to create my annual list of goals. My priority! Find better ways to offer clients a more responsive, full-service menu of mortgage services. That goal took me on a mental journey to insure my customer-first orientation is right at home. My clients want everything handled in-house, they want their phone calls and emails are answered promptly, and don’t want a bunch of hassle.
Another benefit? If you need to make a closing in 10 days, or 108, just tell me, I’ll handle it for you. I work with first-time buyers, move-up buyers, active adults, military buyers, people who are buying vacation homes, manufactured home buyers, and we even have construction-permanent loans for people who want to buy a new home.
I’ve shared my expertise with Virginian-Pilot readers for 10 years through my Mortgage Matters column and have published a Home Buyers Guide, free to those seeking to better understand the process. .
I truly love what I do. I welcome all your business.
