Christmas is just around the corner and what better way to get in the spirit than checking out some of the amazing light displays and shows Hampton Roads has to offer?! We hope you enjoy this list and have a very happy holiday season!

 

 

"Lynnhaven Lights" Mall Light Show

Dates: November 6-30, 2015 beginning each evening at 5pm.

Where: Lynnhaven Mall Center Court, 701 Lynnhaven Pkwy, Virginia Beach, VA

What: Light performances at the top of the hour, each hour from 5-9pm.

Cost: Free 

PTC's Tree Lighting

Dates: November 14, 2015 from 4-8pm

Where: Peninsula Town Center, 4410 E. Claiborne Square, Hampton, VA, 23666

What:  Join PTC & our frozen friends for an evening filled with free holiday entertainment!  Santa arrives and lights the tree at 7pm. 

Cost: Free 

 

 Million Bulb Walk At Norfolk Botanical Garden

Dates: Member Night: November 18, 2015.  Public Nights: November 19-25, 2015 from 5-8pm

Where: Norfolk Botanical Garden, 6700 Azalea Garden Rd., Norfolk, VA 23518 

Cost$12 per person ($10 per member), 2 and under free. With military ID: $11. This event is rain or starshine. Tickets are available each night at the ticket booth.

 

McDonald's Holiday Lights At The Beach

Dates: November 20, 2015 - January 2, 2016. Hours of operation are 5:30pm-10:00pm Sunday through Thursday and 5:30pm-11:00pm Friday-Saturday.

Where: On the boardwalk between 2nd and 34th Streets, Virginia Beach VA

What: 30 Blocks of festive fish, jumping dolphins, frolicking porpoises – all in bright, colored lights against the clear night-time sky, are the stars of McDonald’s Holiday Lights at the Beach, a nautical and holiday-themed light display at the Virginia Beach oceanfront!

Cost: Admission is Cars $15, Limos $25, Motor coaches $45, Mini buses $25. Combo Ticket, $20 - Entry to McDonald's Holiday Lights at the Beach AND 4 tickets to Santa's Seaside Village (NEW for 2015!) at Atlantic & 30th Street) On “Military Mondays,” military receive $7 admission each Monday night from December 7-28.

Preview Night: This year's McDonald's Holiday Lights at the Beach Preview Night to Benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Norfolk is a Drive Thru! Wednesday, November 18 from 5-8pm you can drive the Boardwalk and see an array of animated nautical and holiday-themed lights displays. It's a $5 donation to support Ronald McDonald House Charities of Norfolk.

 

Suffolk Grand Illumination

Dates: November 20, 2015 beginning at 6pm

Where: Market Park at Seaboard Station Railroad Museum, 326 North Main Street, Suffolk, VA

What: Lighting of the Christmas Tree, horse & carriage rides, arts and crafts for kids, hot cocoa and apple cider and Christmas carols. The tree is illuminated at 6:15pm and Santa arrives at 6:30pm.

Cost: Free 

15th Annual Pagoda And Garden Lightfest

Dates: November 21 - December 31, 2015 from 5pm to midnight

Where: TowneBank Fountain Park at Town Point Park on the Downtown Norfolk, Virginia Waterfront

What: A beautiful display of lights featuring over 40,000 sparkles of friendship glowing in the Garden and Pagoda.

Cost: Free 

Charity Holiday Light Stroll

Dates: November 24, 2015 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. 

Where: Newport News Park at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Blvd. and Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, VA

What: Walk at your own pace through the little over 1.25 mile lighted path while you enjoy the wonderful holiday lights.

Cost: $10 per ticket. $30 Family Four Pack. Children under 3 are free. 

Newport News Celebration In Lights

Dates: November 26, 2015 - January 1, 2016. The event will be open each evening, 5:30 - 10:00 p.m. through New Year’s

Where: Newport News Park at the intersection of Ft. Eustis Blvd. and Jefferson Ave. in Newport News, VA

What: Drive through two miles of holiday light displays with over 800,000 individual lights creating animated holiday and fanciful scenes. 

Cost: $12.00 per car and $60.00 per bus (cash, credit cards, and checks made payable to the City of Newport News are accepted; advance/gift tickets may be purchased at the Newport News Visitors Center) 

Dominion Garden Of Lights At Norfolk Botanical Garden

Dates: November 26-December 31, 2015 from 5:30-10pm

Where: Norfolk Botanical Garden, 6700 Azalea Garden Rd., Norfolk, VA 23518

What: The garden is transformed into a winter wonderland where you can enjoy a 2-mile drive through a million sparkling lights bringing the four seasons to life.

Cost: General Admission is $20 Per Car (Monday – Thursday) and $25 Per Car (Friday, Saturday & Sunday). Limo & Multi-passenger vans: $30 (Monday - Thursday) & $40 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday). Specials include Military Appreciation Discount (save $1 any night of the week), Tuesday Member Nights ($15 with membership card -- save $2 any other night,), Food Lion Discount & City of Norfolk Employees is Monday-Thursday only ($19 per car with Food Lion MVP Card or current employee ID). Santa's Seaside Village

Dates: Thursdays-Sundays beginning November 27 thru December 27, 2015 from 2-10pm

Where: Atlantic Avenue & 30th Street, Virginia Beach, VA What: Animated displays, shopping, live entertainment, and Santa Claus himself…all with a “beachy” twist!!

Cost: $4 per person ($1-off discount coupons will be readily available); $10 family 4-pack (4 tickets; each additional ticket will be $3). Make it a combo! Visit Santa’s Seaside Village AND drive through McDonald’s Holiday Lights at the Beach for $20! 

Snow Wonders! Snow And Light Shows!

Dates: November 27 - December 26, 2015 on Fridays & Saturdays. Snow Wonders starts at 5:30, 6:30 & 7:30 p.m. and continues for ten-minute intervals. 

Where: Children's Museum of Virginia, 221 High St, Portsmouth VA in the mall area (between the County St. Parking Garage and the Museum entrance on High Street)

What: Snow will fall from the sky, music will fill the air and we hope that it brings back fond memories from other places you may have lived and enjoyed in the past. 

Cost: Free 

Port Warwick Holiday Tree Lighting

Dates: November 28, 2015 from 5-8pm

Where: Port Warwick - 3100 William Styron Square North, Newport News

What: The kids will love visiting with Santa after he lights up the holiday tree at 5:25pm! Enjoy live entertainment, face painting, enjoy free hot pretzels while they last, and other goodies!

Cost: Free 

Laser Light Show At Abbitt Planetarium

Dates:  Daytime shows: check schedule for all days and times. "Star of Wonder" Evening shows: November 28 and December 11 & 19, 2015 at 6:30pm. "Holiday Magic" Evening shows: November 28 and December 19 at 7:30pm. "Laser Holidays" evening show: December 11 at 8:30pm.

Where: The Virginia Living Museum, 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601

What: Featuring classic holiday favorites like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," modern hits like "Jingle Bell Rock," and unique reimaginings of timeless songs, this is an animated Christmas light display like no other you've ever seen!

Cost: Daytime shows: $4 plus Museum admission/free for members. Evening shows $6 non-members, $3 for members 

Founders Illumination

Dates: November 29, 2015 from 12-6pm
 
Where: The Founders Inn and Spa 5641 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23464 
 
What: Strolling entertainment from noon until 6:00 pm, a reading of the Christmas Story followed by the “Illumination” of the English Gardens.

Where: Ocean View Beach Park Gazebo 100 W. Ocean View Avenue Norfolk, VA 23503

What: Tree Lighting, Santa, performances from the Hurrah Players and Granby High School Choir, The Teeny Tiny Farm, and WHRO youth education van will be there distributing books.

Cost: Free and open to the public
Dates: Celebrate the Grand Illumination with JEBFSLC as the holiday lights are illuminated on December 3, 2015 at 5:30pm for the first time this season. 
 
Where: Cape Henry Lighthouse, Fort Story, VA
 
What: The lighthouse will be open for tours following the illumination. Guests must be at least 42" tall to climb the lighthouse.
 
Cost: This is a public event, and a $5 donation is recommended.

What: Santa tours housing, petting zoo and pony rides, TRADOC Band/All Choirs, guest speakers, illumination laser light show with band.
