Waterfront Homes In Virginia Beach
The history of waterfront homes in Virginia Beach begins before 1607, but that's the year that 105 men and boys arrived from England with Captain Newport. This group went inland, and Adam Thoroughgood arrived in the 1620s as an indentured servant. He earned his freedom and was elected to the House of Burgesses in 1629. Adam's great grandson built a home in the area of Virginia Beach, about 1720, which is now a museum. Adam Thoroughgood used the name "Norfolk" for the county after his home city in England.
